    The Company

Google’s history, though short, is full of successes. In 1996, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, still PhD students at Stanford University, developed an internet search tool that they believed would be more efficient than existing ones; it was the beginning of Google, which later, in 1998, became a private company. In August 2004, with the IPO, the company raised $1.67 billion, becoming worth $23 billion. The company’s great success is linked to numerous factors such as the agility of the tools and the variety of services offered, many of them enabling other companies to substantially improve the services they offer. Simplicity is another strong hallmark of the company. Its philosophy includes thoughts such as our work should be challenging and the challenge should be fun or our mission is to organize the information in the world and make it universally accessible and useful. Google’s search page is today one of the most accessed sites in Brazil and in the world. Google was elected by the Financial Times as the most valuable brand in the world in 2006, valued at the time at US$ 66.434 billion.

    Disclosure

Due to the expansion of business in Brazil, Google, located on the 5th floor of the Birmann Building 31, needed to double its space, from 1,300 m2 to 2,600 m2. The desire to remain at the same address, one of the noblest in the city of São Paulo, collided with the lack of vacant spaces in the building, with only half of the 8th floor. With the real estate market on the rise, new contracts would also represent a higher cost per m2 occupied. Google’s International Real Estate Board was already familiar with the work of Ocupantes’ team, and decided to choose it to represent the task in this one.

First, it was necessary to quickly rent the available space, half of the 8th floor, to ensure some expansion space, even if insufficient. In parallel, Ocupantes approached all the other companies in the building and discovered that the SAB Company, which occupied the 4th floor, was planning a move. Uniting the interests of the two companies, Ocupantes coordinated an assignment of the leases for each half of the 4th floor to Google. In this way, Google was able to occupy the entire neighboring floor, paying an already defined rent, and keeping half of the 8th floor for future expansion.

The direct choice by Google’s Real Estate team, headquartered in the US, was a reason for great satisfaction for Ocupantes, demonstrating clear recognition that Ocupantes is the ideal company for corporate representation in the real estate area.
